# Thawing, stability, and storage of NovaSeq 6000 reagents

For information regarding the thawing, stability, and storage of NovaSeq 6000 reagents, see below.

Reagents in the SBS and buffer cartridges are sensitive to light. Protect those cartridges from light by storing them in a dark location away from any light sources.

**Thawing guidelines for each kit component**

For the components that are thawed in a water bath, place them in a room temperature water bath (19°C - 25°C) following the timing guidance specified below.

**Cluster cartridges** \*Shipped with dry ice (store at -25°C to -15°C).

| Cluster cartridge type | Duration of thaw |
| ---------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| SP, S1, S2 | Up to 2 hours in a room temperature (RT) water bath (19°C - 25°C). |
| S4 | Up to 4 hours in room temperature (RT) water bath (19°C - 25°C). |

* Use a wire rack to prevent tipping.
* If reagents cannot be loaded onto the instrument within 4 hours, store at 2°C to 8°C for up to 24 hours.
* Can refreeze once, if needed. If refreezing, do so immediately after thawing.

**SBS cartridges** \*Shipped with dry ice (store at -25°C to -15°C).

| SBS cartridge type | Duration of thaw |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| SP, S1, S2 | 4 hours in room temperature (RT) water bath (19°C - 25°C) |
| S4 | 4 hours in room temperature (RT) water bath (19°C - 25°C) |

* Use a wire rack to prevent tipping.
* If reagents cannot be loaded onto the instrument within 4 hours, store at 2°C to 8°C for up to 24 hours.
* Can refreeze once, if needed. If refreezing, do so immediately after thawing.
* SBS cartridges are sensitive to light.

**Buffer Cartridge** \*Shipped at RT (store at RT).

* Buffer cartridges are sensitive to light.
* Buffer cartridges can be recycled (only consumable that can be recycled).

**Flow cell (FC)** \*Shipped dry with an ice pack (store at 2-8°C).

* Before use, allow the flow cell to sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before removing it from the packaging.
* Once open, use within 12 hours of removing it from the package.

**Library tube** \*Shipped at RT (store at RT).

* Store the library tube (containing the library pool) only if necessary.
* Long-term library pool storage at -25°C to -15°C can increase duplicates, which decreases yield.
