# How to Power Cycle the MiniSeq

\*\*Use the processes below to power cycle the MiniSeq instrument.

MiniSeq with Control Software version 1.1:\*\*

From the MiniSeq Control Software (MnCS):1. Navigate to Manage Instrument > Shutdown options > Shut down.\
2\. Wait 60 seconds.\
3\. To turn the instrument back on, press the power button on the front panel of the MiniSeq. Wait for the operating system and MnCS to completely load and initialize (this can take several minutes).

**MiniSeq Control Software version 2.0 (Windows 10):**\
There are four options to power cycle the instrument in MnCS v2.0.

1. Follow steps above for MnCS 1.1.
2. If MnCS has closed but the computer is still on:

* Navigate to the Windows Start Menu in the bottom left-hand corner.
* Select Shutdown.
* Wait two minutes before turning on instrument.

3. Navigate as follows: Windows Start Menu > Illumina > MiniSeq Shutdown.
4. Open the Command Prompt and type in: shutdown /s.

**If the instrument is unresponsive (will not shutdown using the steps above):**

1. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
2. Wait 2 minutes before turning on instrument.
3. **Important note**: Do not use the power switch above the instrument power cord to shutdown the instrument, as this can damage the hard drive.
