# Troubleshooting Network Connection Active errors during Pre run Checks on MiSeq

Users may encounter a "Network Connection Active" error during the Pre-Run Checks after starting a sequencing run. This is typically either an issue with the network connection to the instrument or a communication error on the instrument.

**To troubleshoot**:

1. Ensure that the network cable is correctly plugged into the instrument.
2. If Network connection is not restored after removing and re-inserting the network cable, select **Reboot** on the **Manage Instrument** screen within the MiSeq Control Software\
   to reboot the instrument.
3. If the connection is still not restored, select **Shut Down** from the **Manage Instrument** screen, and then turn off the instrument using the power switch. Wait at least 60 seconds, and then turn on the instrument and start the software.

If a full power cycle does not resolve this error, contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html#/united-states/technical-support).
