# Flow cell is not detected error on the NextSeq 1000/2000

**Background:** When starting a run, the NextSeq 1000/2000 can present an error that the "flow cell is not detected" despite a properly loaded flow cell.

**To troubleshoot:**

1. Investigate the flow cell seating and cleanliness.

* Retry by reseating the flow cell.

2. Power cycle\* the system.

* Confirm failure to recognize the flow cell persists through the power cycle.
