How to power cycle the NovaSeq X Series Instruments

Background

Restarting or power cycling the NovaSeq X or X Plus can resolve many common communication or instrumentation issues. However, these actions should only be performed when recommended by Illumina Tech Support or Field Service.

If the NovaSeq X Series Control Software is not accessible or not responding, do not shutdown through the Linux Operating System (OS) and contact Illumina Tech Support for further guidance.

Restarting the Single Board Computer (SBC):

  1. From the NovaSeq X Control Software Home screen, select the instrument icon to open the global navigation menu, and then select Settings.

  2. From the Settings menu, select Exit Software.

  3. Within the Linux OS, select Activities in the top left corner, then select the drop down menu in the top-right corner.

  1. Select the Power icon, then select Restart.

    1. Do not select Power Off as this can prevent the SBC from restarting as expected. If Power Off is selected, contact Illumina Tech Support for further guidance.

  1. Once the SBC has restarted, login to the Linux Operating System (OS) and then restart the NovaSeq X Series Control Software.
