Restarting or power cycling the NovaSeq X/X Plus can resolve many common communication or instrumentation issues, though should only be performed when recommended by Illumina Tech Support or Field Service.
If the NovaSeq X Series Control Software is not accessible or not responding, do not shutdown through the Linux OS, contact Illumina Tech Support for further guidance.
For instructions on power cycling instruments running Control Software version 1.0, contact Illumina Tech Support.
For instruments running Control Software version 1.1, see the following instructions:
From the NovaSeq X Control Software Home screen, select the instrument icon to open the global navigation menu, and then select Settings.
From the Settings menu, select Shutdown.
Wait at least 2 minutes for the instrument to completely shutdown. The monitor should be dark, with no text or cursors flashing in the top left corner.
If the system does not shutdown, press and hold the power button on the right side of the instrument for 20 seconds.
When the instrument computer has powered down and the monitor is dark, toggle the power switch on the back right side of the instrument to off.
Allow the instrument to remain powered down for 2 minutes.
Toggle the power switch on the back of the instrument, and wait 1 minute before pressing the power button on the right side of the instrument.
Allow the instrument to power on, login to the Linux Operating System (OS).
Allow 5-10 minutes for the instrument Compute Engine (CE) and Kubernetes microservices to initialize before attempting to start the Control Software.
Within the Linux OS, select Activities in the top left corner, then select the NovaSeq X Series Control Software icon and allow control software to initialize.
The Windows key on the keyboard can be used to open the Activities menu and select the NovaSeq X Series Control Software icon.
