# How to install the BaseSpace Sequence Hub Downloader on Mac OS

An error message may display while updating/running the Mac version of the BaseSpace Sequence Hub Downloader application install package file on Mac Operating System (OS).**"Install error, “BaseSpaceDownloader.Mac.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.”**

This error is due to the default security settings in the OS.

**In order to install the Downloader, perform the following steps**

1. After running the latest .pkg, once the OS produces the error, navigate to System Preferences.
2. In System Preferences, navigate to Privacy and Security.
3. In Security section, look for warning stating the BaseSpace Downloader cannot be installed and select Install Anyway.
4. Proceed through the installation steps.
5. It is will now be possible to launch the BaseSpace Downloader in web user interface (UI).

**In order to bypass the MacOS security feature, perform the following steps**

1. Right click on the file and select Open.

This will prompt a pop-up warning with an option to still open the application and bypass the security requirement to alter the specific application settings through the system preferences directly.

2. Select Open once again.
