# How to perform Linux OS updates on the NextSeq 1000/2000

With the end of CentOS 7 support by RedHat as of June 30th, 2024, no further OS updates will be available. Illumina will continue to provide OS Security patches for CentOS 7 until the transition to Oracle 9 OS is complete. To find the released patches and instructions on how to apply them, please visit the [Illumina Product Security Portal](https://support.illumina.com/product-security-portal/patches.html) page.

As announced in PCN2025-1767, a new NextSeq Sequencing System Software Suite (v2.0.0) is available, which includes a new operating system (Oracle Linux 9). For more information on upgrading your NextSeq 1000/2000 system to System Software Suite v2.0.0 with Oracle Linux 9, contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html#/united-states/technical-support).
