# Can a run be started on the NovaSeq X/X Plus while an analysis is ongoing?

Yes, a new sequencing run can be started while an existing DRAGEN Analysis is in progress. However, the ongoing DRAGEN Analysis must finish by the time the subsequent run completes the cluster generation phase. If the DRAGEN Analysis is still in progress when cluster generation completes, the NovaSeq X Series Control Software will terminate the DRAGEN Analysis and it must be requeued after the subsequent Run and DRAGEN Analysis completes. Most standard BCL Convert analyses and some other pipelines are generally expected to complete in the time it takes for the instrument to finish its post-run wash, prepare for the next run, and complete cluster generation.\
