# What is the correct format for DRAGEN Array IDAT CSV Sample Sheet?

When using DRAGEN Array (Cloud or Local) analysis, providing a sample sheet is optional. A sample sheet enables users to analyze samples located in different directories and select specific samples for analysis rather than processing every sample on a BeadChip.

The DRAGEN Array IDAT CSV Sample Sheet is a CSV-formatted input file that utilizes a couple required fields for sample lookup. These fields associate a sample identifier with the corresponding Sentrix Barcode and position on the BeadChip.

For DRAGEN Array Local workflows, the required lookup fields are:

SentrixBarcode\_A\*\*:\*\* BeadChip barcode

SentrixPosition\_A\*\*:\*\* BeadChip position

For DRAGEN Array Cloud workflows, the required lookup fields are:

beadChipName\*\*:\*\* BeadChip barcode

sampleSectionName

The DRAGEN Array CSV Sample Sheet format differs from the GenomeStudio CSV Sample Sheet format. It uses a simplified structure and includes only the information required for DRAGEN Array analysis workflows. In contrast, the GenomeStudio sample sheet may contain additional columns and data fields that are intended for use with GenomeStudio software.

Although the two sample sheet formats differ, the recommendations for formatting 12-digit BeadChip barcodes apply to both DRAGEN Array and GenomeStudio sample sheets.

**Note:** Beginning with DRAGEN Array v1.3, backward compatibility with the GenomeStudio CSV Sample Sheet format was introduced for DRAGEN Array Local CLI Analysis workflows. This compatibility does not apply to all DRAGEN Array workflows.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.illumina.com/microarray/general/microarray-general-troubleshooting-list/000006290.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
