# Troubleshooting 'Status code 523' Errors in Cloud Settings on the MiSeq i100 Series

**Background**

The MiSeq i100 Series Control Software leverages HTML-based software design to serve up user interface (UI) screens. Disruptions to the instrument network connection can prevent normal UI loading and present the following error messages in a banner at the top of the UI:

'An unexpected error occurred. Details: Status code 523'

**Troubleshooting Actions**

1. Confirm that the ethernet cable is plugged into the instrument and is connected to the LAN1 port at the back of the instrument.
2. Review the **Network Settings** page for potential configuration issues:
   1. Log into the Control Software as an **Administrator** user.
   2. From the Home screen, select the dropdown menu in the top-left corner, then select **Settings**.
   3. Select **Network Settings**.
   4. Confirm that LAN1 shows the expected IP address, gateway, and DNS IP address information for the local network connection.
      1. If any values are missing or incorrect, consult with local IT team and update values accordingly.
   5. Select **Save**.
3. Navigate to the **Cloud Settings** menu to confirm that error message is resolved.

If the banner presenting the '`Status code 523`' persists after confirming Network Settings are correct, contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html).
