# How to Power Cycle the MiSeq i100 Series

**Background**

The MiSeq i100 Series instruments may be power cycled safely when there are no sequencing runs or secondary analyses in progress. Software messages indicate when to shut down and restart the instrument to resolve an error or warning.

If the system does not shut down, contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html).
