# Failed to load BaseSpace Cloud API URL from configuration error on the NextSeq 500/550 and MiniSeq

If the BaseSpace Broker service is unable to start when the instrument is initializing, it will present with the following error message:

* 'Failed to load BaseSpace Cloud API URL from configuration. Please make sure BaseSpace Broker is installed properly.'

To resolve this issue, see the following troubleshooting actions.

**Confirm the Date and Time Settings**

1. Close the Control Software.
2. In the Windows Search bar, type in `Control Panel` and open the Control Panel application.
3. Select Date and Time.
4. Confirm that the instrument Date, Time, and Time Zone settings are all correct for the instrument location.

**Remove duplicate backup files from the Broker 'Archive' folder**

1. In the Windows Search bar, type in `Task Manager`, right-click on the Task Manager application, and select Run as Administrator.
2. Navigate to the Services tab, locate Illumina BaseSpace Broker, right-click and select Stop.

* If the service is already stopped, continue to the steps below.

3. Open File Explorer and navigate to the D:\Illumina\BaseSpaceBroker\Archive folder.
4. Review the extensions of the files in the 'Archive' folder and delete **any** files with one or more .bak extension added to the end of the file.
5. Navigate back to the Task Manager, open the Services tab, and locate Illumina BaseSpace Broker.
6. Right-click on the Broker service and select Start.
7. Once the service is restarted, restart the Control Software and verify that it is able to initialize.
