# Does the NovaSeq X/X Plus use Single or Multi Node Connection Terminations?

**When connecting the NovaSeq X/X Plus to a 10G network connection on the local network, should the termination connection be Single or Multi-Node?**

Single and Multi-Node terminations are for fiber connections, while the NovaSeq X/X Plus network interface uses a copper-based ethernet connection.

The local network backbone can utilize fiber connections, though the instrument will need to be first connected to a switch or media converter using a copper ethernet cable.
