# How to install custom recipes on MiniSeq Control Software v2.x

In MiniSeq Control Software (MnCS) v2.x, if using a custom recipe for run setup, the option to select the custom recipe will occur only after the reagent cartridge is loaded (not during the run setup page). By this point, a new flow cell, buffer cartridge, and reagent cartridge are registered before selecting the custom recipe. Contact the local Field Applications Scientist (FAS) for questions regarding a custom recipe. If local FAS is unknown, contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html#/).

To install a custom recipe on MiniSeq, the recipe will be copied to the custom recipes location: C:\Program Files\Illumina\MiniSeq Control Software\Recipe\Custom\ \[High or Mid]

After installing the custom recipe in the appropriate location, select **Enable Custom Recipes in System Customization in MnCS**. The Custom Recipe option will not appear during the run setup if not selected.

Select the custom recipe after completing the run setup and loading the consumables. Loading consumables will validate which recipes are available for that flow cell type.
