Updating the Hostname or Domain Name on the MiSeq i100 Series

Background

The Hostname and Domain name are used to identify the MiSeq i100 Series instrument when connected to a user's network. Additionally, the Hostname and Domain name are used for internal API calls between software components during routine instrument operation. If required, these values can be updated via the Network Settings user interface (UI) within the Control Software using the following instructions.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • The Hostname and Domain name should NEVER be changed using the OS Terminal access. Only update these values through the Control Software.

  • Updating the Hostname and Domain name can take up to 10 minutes. Do NOT restart or power cycle the instrument during this process.

  1. Login to the instrument Control Software with an Administrator account.

  2. From the Home screen, select the dropdown menu in the top-left corner, then select Settings, then select Network Settings.

  3. Select the Edit button to the right of the Domain name field (Figure 1).

  4. Under the Network settings: hostname and domain UI, input the new Hostname and Domain name if desired (Figure 2). Select Save.

  5. After reviewing the sign out requirements, select Continue to proceed with changing the Hostname or Domain name (Figure 3).

  6. Allow the instrument to re-assign the Hostname and Domain name. This can take up to 10 minutes while the software updates. (Figure 4)

  7. Once complete, login to the Administrator account to complete the process.
