# Waste Volumes for MiSeq i100 Series Reagents

**Background**

The volume of waste produced by a MiSeq i100 Series sequencing run depends on the wet cartridge types as well as whether the instrument is set to automatically purge unused reagents when the run is complete. The flowcell type (e.g., 5M, 25M, etc.) does not affect the waste volumes.

The table below shows the expected approximate waste volumes when using the wet cartridge type specified in the table. The waste volumes depend on whether the **Purge reagent cartridge after run** checkbox is selected or not.

When the **Purge reagent cartridge** option is de-selected, the total waste volume can vary based on the total number of cycles performed in the run, with shorter runs generating reduced waste volume.
