# Does the Flex Lysis Kit require the purchase of additional Illumina reagents?

**Does the Illumina DNA Prep Saliva Lysis, Blood Lysis, or Dried Blood Spot Extraction Protocols require the purchase of additional Illumina reagents beyond the Illumina Flex Lysis Reagent kit?**

If using one of the Illumina DNA Prep kit configurations that include the Illumina Purification Bead (IPB) reagent, additional Illumina reagents are not required for Saliva Lysis. Blood Lysis or Dried Blood Spot Extraction protocols will require the Flex lysis kit, but no other additional Illumina reagents.

* The IPB reagent needed for DNA isolation is provided in sufficient quantity within the Illumina DNA Prep kits that contain them.
  * Kit configurations that include IPB are:\
    \- Illumina DNA Prep, (M) Tagmentation (24 Samples, IPB), catalog 20060060\
    \- Illumina DNA Prep, (M) Tagmentation (96 Samples, IPB), catalog 20060059
* The Saliva Lysis protocol requires user-supplied consumables that include Oragene DNA collection tubes (for saliva sample collection), a 96-well PCR plate, freshly prepared 80% ethanol, and nuclease-free water.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.illumina.com/library-preparation/dna-library-prep/library-preparation-dna-library-prep-faq-list/000007307.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
