# Temperature control on NextSeq 500/550

There is no peltier nor coolant lines in the NextSeq 500/550.

* A membrane is used to heat the flow cell.
* There are fans for active cooling (on top of the imaging module, at the back of the instrument, in the Ebox, and for the hard drives and CPU), as well as a heatsink heat-exchange element over the imaging module for passive cooling.
