# Troubleshooting 'Lane Pump not initialized' fluidics related error on the NextSeq 500/550

This error indicates there is an issue with the fluidics system and it can appear at anytime (eg, during initialization, washes, pre-checks, during runs). This can be a communication error between the hardware and software, or an issue with the syringe pump itself.

**Error text:**

"Error in Fluidics.FlowCellFluidics1.LanePump. Device not initialized. Command = 'Q', reply = '7'"

![](/files/XjjFeA19Nj9pGFVHuDib)

**Troubleshooting steps:**

1. Power cycle\\\* the NextSeq 500/550.2. If the instrument initializes successfully, complete a Quick Wash.\\\*3. If the wash completes without errors, setup the next run on the instrument.4. If the error persists after initialization, contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html#/united-states/technical-support) for additional guidance

For further information, search for Knowledge Base articles **How to Perform a NextSeq 500/550 Power Cycle** and **How to perform washes on the NextSeq 500/550.**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.illumina.com/instrumentation/nextseq-500-550/instrumentation-nextseq-500-550-troubleshooting-list/000002103.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
