# Troubleshooting 'A configuration file cannot be assessed' Warnings during Pre Run Checks on the NovaSeq X Series

**Background**

The NovaSeq X Series Control Software version v1.3 introduces a new RTA Distortion Calibration to improve run performance and accurate base calling. The values for this calibration are stored in a configuration file that is assessed during Pre-Run Checks.

If the RTA Distortion Calibration file is not configured during the Control Software v1.3 upgrade, then the configuration file will not be available and the following Warning will present during Pre-Run Checks:

![](/files/XTuSlpFZGxVqqTDNczxr)

A configuration file cannot be assessed. This will not impact current run setup. After starting run, contact Tech Support for assistance.

If this Warning presents, select **Continue** to proceed with the sequencing run and contact Illumina [Tech Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html) for further assistance.
