# Using expired reagents on the NovaSeq 6000

All NovaSeq 6000 reagents ship with a minimum shelf life of 6 months. Runs can be started with expired reagents. When starting a run with expired reagents, the control software will display a warning notification. This notification can be acknowledged to continue with run setup.

Illumina does not guarantee run performance will meet specifications when expired consumables are used.
