# How to enable/disable Illumina Proactive on NextSeq 500/550

By connecting the instrument to Illumina Proactive, Illumina will be alerted to failure risks before they affect a run. The Illumina Service and Support team will analyze instrument performance data, troubleshoot if needed, and work with users to schedule any required maintenance.

**To enable Proactive for NextSeq 500/550 instruments operating on Windows 7:** \* From the menu on Home Screen, select **Manage Instrument**.

* Select **System Configuration**, followed by **BaseSpace Configuration**.
* Move past the Analysis tab and select **Send Instrument Performance Data to Illumina** from the BaseSpace tab.

To disable Proactive, de-select **Send Instrument Performance Data to Illumina** in the same tab.

**To enable Proactive for NextSeq 500/550 instruments operating on Windows 10/NextSeq Control Software (NCS) 4.0+:**\* From the menu on Home Screen of NCS, select **Manage Instrument**. ![](/files/iwmNZoYNCYItbKp96c4f)

To disable Proactive, de-select **Send Instrument Performance Data to Illumina** if on **NCS 4.0/4.1** or **Proactive Support (requires an internat connection)** if on **NCS 4.2**.
