# Troubleshooting "Failed to send WATCHDOG=1 notification message:" on the NextSeq 1000/2000

NextSeq 1000/2000 users may see the following error appear on a black screen.

"Failed to send WATCHDOG=1 notification message: Transport endpoint is not connected"

![](/files/coGEHS58POxg6bQEWjuP)

This message is typically indicative that there are files being transferred while a user is attempting to perform another process that would affect that transfer. This can be resolved with a slow power cycle of the instrument.

**How to Power Cycle the NextSeq 1000/2000**

1. In the control software, open the hamburger menu (three horizontal lines) and select **Shutdown Instrument**.
2. Once the instrument is off, toggle the power switch to the **OFF** position.
3. Wait a minimum of 5 minutes with the instrument powered completely off.
4. Toggle the power switch to the **ON** position.
5. Once the power button on the front right of the instrument is pulsing with light, press it.
6. If this does not resolve the error, contact Illumina Technical Support at <techsupport@illumina.com>
