# Troubleshooting a Failed to Get Temperature error on the NextSeq 500/550

The following warning is typically a transient communication issue between the NextSeq Control Software and a temperature sensor and does not affect run performance.

***"@@@---Failed to get temperature."***\
![](/files/surhSXzCezXemFdj9dAU)

**Troubleshooting steps:**

1. If run performance is normal, power cycle instrument the instrument after the run completes and continue with the next run if the system initializes without issue.
2. If run performance is affected, power cycle instrument and perform system check tests. If all tests pass, then proceed with next sequencing run.
3. If the warning re-occurs or the system check shows a failure, contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html#/).
