# Troubleshooting 'Recipe file does not exist at' errors when setting up 1.5B runs on the NovaSeq X Plus

**Background**

The NovaSeq X Series 1.5B Flow Cell Recipe Installer must be run on the NovaSeq X Plus prior to setting up a sequencing run using the 1.5B Reagent kits. If the 1.5B Recipe Installer has not been run on the instrument, this results in an error indicating the 'Recipe file does not exist' during the Recipe Validation step in the Pre-Run Checks.

**Troubleshooting Actions**

1. No consumables are marked as used at this point and the sequencing run can be restarted after completing the following steps.
2. Contact [Illumina Tech Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html) to request the **NovaSeq X Series 1.5B Flow Cell Recipe Installer** file.
3. Run the **NovaSeq X Series 1.5B Flow Cell Recipe Installer** according to instructions provided by Illumina Tech Support.
4. Restart sequencing run setup using the same 1.5B Reagent Kit.

Before running the **NovaSeq X Series 1.5B Flow Cell Recipe Installer**, confirm the following:

1. An Administrator user such as **`ilmnadmin`** is accessible.
2. The NovaSeq X Series Control Software version is 1.2
   1. Do not run the **NovaSeq X Series 1.5B Flow Cell Recipe Installer**if the instrument is running control Software v1.2.2

If an Administrator user is not accessible or the instrument is running NovaSeq X Series Control Software v1.1 or below, contact [Illumina Tech Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html) for further assistance.
