# Can a run on the NextSeq 1000/2000 use expired reagents?

The NextSeq 1000/2000 control software provides a warning when expired reagents are detected. This warning can be acknowledged to continue with the run setup.

Illumina cannot guarantee reagent performance will meet [NextSeq 1000 & NextSeq 2000 Specifications](https://www.illumina.com/systems/sequencing-platforms/nextseq-1000-2000/specifications.html) when using expired consumables.
