# Can a lab network be upgraded to support faster file transfer on the NovaSeq 6000?

**Can a lab network be upgraded to support faster file transfer on the NovaSeq 6000?**

The [NovSeq 6000 Sequencing System Site Prep Guide](https://support.illumina.com/downloads/novaseq-site-prep-guide-1000000019360.html) requires 1 gigabit network connection and the single board computer (SBC) supports 1 Gb data transfer speed. Upgrading the network beyond this will not improve data transfer speeds.
