# Updating the system time on the NextSeq 1000/2000

If the time on the NextSeq 1000/2000 instrument computer is inaccurate for the time zone in which the the instrument is located, proceed with the following steps to change the time.

1. Close NextSeq Control 1000/2000 Software.
2. Navigate to the top right side of the instrument and open **Account Settings** from the drop-down menu (see Figure 1).
3. Select **Details** > **Date & Time** on the left-hand side, edit the **Date & Time** of the instrument, and ensure the **Automatic Date \&Time** option is ON (see Figure 3).
   1. **Note**: If a window for "Authentication Required" opens, enter the root user password in the "Administrator" password field (see Figure 1). If recovery of root password is needed, see [How to change passwords and unlock accounts on the NextSeq 1000/2000](/instrumentation/nextseq-1000-2000/instrumentation-nextseq-1000-2000-troubleshooting-list/000003297.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.illumina.com/instrumentation/nextseq-1000-2000/instrumentation-nextseq-1000-2000-troubleshooting-list/000006790.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
