# Troubleshooting failed MiSeq system checks

**Note**: For how to perform a MiSeq system check, see Knowledge Base article **How to perform a System Check on the MiSeq**.

The MiSeq system checks are comprised of four tests: motion, optics, thermal ramp, and fluidics.

The tests listed under the Illumina Use Only column include the Tip/Tilt and Full Optics tests. These tests require a beaded flow cell to complete successfully. Therefore, Illumina Service Engineers carry a beaded flow cell for performing these tests.

For failed tests, power cycle the instrument, perform a maintenance wash with water and repeat the system check with an alternate flow cell. Contact [Illumina Technical Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html) for any repeated failures or further questions.
