# How long will the NovaSeq 6000 UPS support the instrument should backup power not engage?

In the event a NovaSeq 6000 instrument loses power, the [NovaSeq 6000 Site Prep Guide](https://support.illumina.com/content/dam/illumina-support/documents/documentation/system_documentation/novaseq/novaseq-site-prep-guide-1000000019360-06.pdf), page 11, indicates the Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) can, on average, support the instrument for:

* 51 minutes at an average power consumption of 1.8kW (idle instrument).
* 34 minutes at a peak power consumption of 2.8kW (running instrument).
