# What does NextSeq 1000/2000 status bar color mean?

The NextSeq 1000/2000 instrument includes a light-emitting diode (LED) status bar beneath the touch screen monitor that surrounds the instrument. The status bar provides an at-a-glance indication of the instrument state. The light color progresses as the system moves through its workflow.

* **Blue and purple**: indicate interactivity (eg, pre-run checks)
* **Multicolor**: indicates notable moments and data (eg, sequencing completion)
* **Red**: critical errors
