# How to find sample sheet templates for MiSeq Control Software (MCS) v4.0 Local Run Manager

Illumina Experiment Manager (IEM) generated sample sheets are **not** compatible with MiSeq Control Software (MCS) v4 Sample Sheet mode Run Setup Option, nor Local Run Manager (LRM).

Create properly formatted sample sheets in two ways:

1. Create a sample sheet within LRM v3 (using the export option).
2. Download template sample sheets from the Illumina website that are compatible with LRM v3.

* To find the correct sample sheet: [Use the Module selector](https://customprotocolselector.illumina.com/selectors/LRM-module-selector/Content/Source/FrontPages/LRM-module-selector.htm).
* Select **MiSeq** > Select **MCS 4.0** > Choose desired module > Select **Module Download**.
* Edit the sample sheet in Excel, then use for runs performed in 'Sample Sheet' mode.
