# Troubleshooting HttpClient.Timeout Errors during Pre Run Checks on the MiSeq i100 Series

**Background**

During Pre-Run Checks, the instrument will confirm that the Control Software and instrument are ready for a sequencing run. If either Proactive or BaseSpace connections are enabled under Cloud Settings, the Control Software will confirm that these sites can be reached during Pre-Run Checks.

If the connection request times out or does not respond, it will present the following error message:

![](/files/ep3iD351o6xfKjKeZUsq)

Pre-run checks errors: The request was canceled due to the configured HttpClient.Timeout of 150 seconds elapsing.

This is generally due to network security settings preventing the Control Software from accessing BaseSpace Ground Control or other requires URLs necessary for Proactive or BaseSpace connectivity. See the following Troubleshooting Actions to resolve this issue.

**Troubleshooting Actions**

1. On the Pre-Run Checks error screen, select **Return to Start** to exit the Pre-Run Checks.
2. Review the [Control Computer Firewall](https://www.illumina.com/content/dam/illumina-support/documents/product-security/documentation-section/product-security-guidance/200055146_01_Illumina_Product_Security_Guidance.pdf) section of the Networking and Security guide.
3. Contact your local IT team and request that the URLs under the appropriate **Regional Endpoints** and **MiSeq i100 Series** are added to your network security allow list.
4. Once this is complete, navigate to the **Cloud Settings** menu in the MiSeq i100 Control Software.
5. Confirm that the **Hosting Location** dropdown menu is now populated and then select the appropriate regional **Hosting Location**.
   1. Is using a private Enterprise domain, input the private domain name in the free text field.
6. Select **Test Configuration** and confirm that all required URLs are accessible.
7. Ensure that the checkbox next to **Send instrument performance data to Illumina** is selected to enable Proactive support.
8. Ensure that the appropriate checkboxes under Run Settings are selected to enable Cloud Run Monitoring or Cloud Run Storage.
9. Select **Save**.
10. From the Home screen, select Start and proceed with run setup to confirm that instrument is able to proceed through Pre-Run Checks.

If configuring network security settings are expected to take longer than \~4 hours, contact [Illumina Tech Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html) to discuss options for setting up your sequencing run without Proactive.
