# How to check if a Windows account is a standard or administrator account

1. Open the **Settings** Windows app.

* Select the **Windows Icon** in the lower left.
* Begin typing "Settings" and the **Settings**app will appear in the results.
* Select **Open**.

2. Select **Accounts**.\

3. Locate the account you would like to check in either:

* **Your Info** - if you are currently logged in as the user you are checking, or...
* **Family & Other Users** - if you are checking a different account than the one you are logged in as.

4. Find the account type beneath the account name.

* If the account says **Administrator** beneath it, then it is an administrator account.
* If the account does **not** say **Administrator** beneath it, then it is a standard account.
