# Can expired consumables be used for a NovaSeq 6000 run?

Illumina cannot guarantee performance when using expired consumables, and runs performed with expired reagents may not meet specifications.

When attempting to setup a run with expired consumables, a warning about using expired consumables will appear. The warning may be acknowledged and control software will continue with run set up with expired sequencing consumables.
