# How to change sbsuser credential from sbsadmin account on Windows instruments

If the password for the sbsuser account was changed or forgotten, and login is prevented, the credentials can be changed through the sbsadmin account.

**Follow these steps to change the windows password:**

1. Login as sbsadmin on the instrument.
2. Open the **Control Panel** and select the **User Accounts** icon.
3. Select the **Manage another account** link.
4. If prompted by User Account Control, select **Yes**.
5. Select the sbsuser account to change or remove the password of (note, it may take a moment to load as an option).
6. Select **Change the password**.
7. Type in a new password and password hint and select **Change password**.

**Note**: The user will still need to update credentials for Local Run Manager, depending on the version of the Instrument Control Software.
