# How to recover Local Run Manager v3 Account when locked out

When Account (User) Management is enabled, Local Run Manager (LRM) v3 allows creation of individual username(s) associated with the account (new users). When a new user is created, LRM will open a prompt to answer security questions. If a password is forgotten, users can recover access via selecting “Forgot your password” on the login screen and answering the security questions. Security questions can be reset anytime in the “My Account” page in LRM.

Users are required to either create or select 3 security questions from the default list. **Note**: the questions must be at least 20 characters and the answers must be at least 8 characters in length.

Users will be locked out of their account if the incorrect password is entered repeatedly. The number of allowed attempts can be set by the Admin user - The default is 5. If a user exceeds the number of allowed attempts, the user account is locked. Only an Admin user can unlock the account or assign a temporary password.

Passwords will automatically expire after 90 days. LRM will prompt User/Admin to change password once the password has expired. The password expiration and user lockout parameters can be edited in the System Settings - Security tab.

If locked out, admins and users can select “Forgot your password” to answer security questions and recover the account. Users will need to answer 2 questions correctly. Upon successfully answering the security questions, the user is prompted to create a new password.
