# Troubleshooting CIM Homing Errors during Initialization on the MiSeq i100 Series

**Background**

During initialization, the instrument performs several operations to move components to the home position to test normal functionality. If the instrument is unable to move the Dry Cartridge tray to the correct position during this process, the following error presents:

The cim module failed homing operation. Contact Illumina Technical Support.

If this issue is observed, perform an additional power cycle to attempt to re-home the Cartridge Interface Module (CIM). See Knowledge Article [How to Power Cycle the MiSeq i100 Series](/instrumentation/miseq-i100-series/instrumentation-miseq-i100-series-reference_material-list/000009277.md) for additional details.

If the CIM Homing issue persists after a second power cycle, contact [Illumina Tech Support](https://www.illumina.com/company/contact-us.html).
