How to make sure Universal Copy Service is configured to Log On as a standard (non admin) account
For NovaSeq 6000
On the NovaSeq 6000, the Illumina Universal Copy Service runs as the currently logged in account. To perform sequencing, always login with a standard (non-administrator) account.
To verify you are sequencing using a standard account:
Login to the instrument using the account you plan to perform sequncing with
For Benchtop Windows 10 Instruments
Note: Illumina has updated our guidance for configuring Local Run Manager (LRM) and Universal Copy Service (UCS) service accounts and now advises that users no longer access the Service Accounts tab within Local Run Manager settings (pictured below) for any reason. Please use the Window Services application for all service account configuration changes.
Follow the steps below to ensure that Illumina Universal Copy Service Windows service is configured to Log On As a standard or administrator Windows account.
Log into Windows using the sbsadmin (or other administrator) account.
Open the Windows Services app.
Select the Windows Icon in the lower left.
Begin typing "Services" and the Services Desktop App will appear in the results.
Select Open.
For the UCS account identified above, perform the corresponding action below to ensure UCS is configured to Log On As a standard account:
Local Service
No action required.
Local System (factory default)
.\sbsadmin
.\sbsuser
Check if .\sbsuser is a standard user * IFstandard: No action required. * IF administrator : Downgrade.\sbsuser from an administrator to a standard account
All Other accounts (On or Off-domain)
Check if Log On As account is a standard account * IF standard: No action required. * IF administrator:
