# Instructions to back up DRAGEN license files when upgrading the operating system on a DRAGEN server

These instruction are applied when the operating system (OS) is upgraded on a DRAGEN server. When the user is updating the OS, all the DRAGEN license files are deleted. During an OS upgrade users should save the pre-existing license files and store them off the system. After the OS upgrade is complete, the license files can be placed back onto the system and users can resume using them as expected. Users can use the instructions below to backup the license files and re-apply as a default:

1. Backup License files using the command: $ tar -cvpf licenses.tar /var/lib/edico
2. Restore the DRAGEN license files: $ tar -xvf license.tar -C /

(-C option: send your extract files to other locations, followed by target location)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.illumina.com/software/dragen/software-dragen-troubleshooting-list/000008620.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
