# How to look up DMAP file retention settings in Illumina LIMS Project Manager

The following instructions describe how to check DMAP file retention settings in Illumina LIMS. When using Illumina LIMS to scan Beadchips, DMAPs are retained in the Decode folder for 60 days. The countdown starts after 'Image Beadchip Completed'.

**To check the Illumina LIMS DMAP file retention settings:**

1. Open LIMS Project Manager.
2. Go to Tools > Administrator > App Values.
3. Double-click 'File Retention' to expand
4. Select the + sign next to Decode File; the number seen is the retention time in days. The default value is 60 (days). The countdown starts after the BeadChip is flagged as 'Image Beadchip Completed'.
