# Troubleshooting BeadArray Controls Reporter (BACR) Error: "Could not launch selected viewing application"

#### **Error Message**

Once BACR analysis is complete, the "View Output" window appears with question "Would you like to view the output?":\

After clicking "Yes", another window pops up with the message "Could not launch selected viewing application"\

The error occurs when BACR is unable to automatically open the output file when a newer version of Excel (eg, Excel Office 365) is being used by the computer.

The BeadArray Controls Reporter Software Guide states: "To open the Excel output file, you need Microsoft Excel 2007, or later." The BACR software program was released in 2015 and was originally designed for systems running Windows XP with Excel 2007.

#### **Resolution**

Because BACR can still successfully generate the output file, a workaround is to navigate directly to the output folder and open the Excel file manually from that location.
