# Download and installation of Dragen array software for local analysis

**Steps for downloading the Dragen array installer:**

1. Access the [Illumina website for DRAGEN Array Secondary Analysis Software Downloads,](https://support.illumina.com/array/array_software/dragen-array-secondary-analysis/downloads.html) and Click the link of the DRAGEN Array Installer for Linux or Windows:

2. You will be directed to log in [MyIllumina account](https://my.illumina.com/welcome) (create an account if you don’t have one yet)

Step 1:

Step 2:

3. You will be asked to enter your Illumina customer number or the serial number of an Illumina instrument:

4. You will then be asked to browse to a location in your computer where you want to download/save to installer:

**Installation of Dragen array software**

1. Once download is completed, move the DRAGEN Array installation package to the desired folder. Administrative permissions may be required for system folders, for example C:\Program Files for Windows:

2. When you click the dragen.exe from the folder where it was saved, a Command Prompt (cmd)window will open and close in seconds, you might not see it, as it happens fast.

3. To check that the files have been installed properly, execute the following commands in cmd:

The commands from the cmd screenshot above are listed below:

1. 1. Copy the path to the location of the installed dragena software:

1. 2. Paste the copied Dragena path after the command cd:

**b.1)** C:>**cd** C:\Users\*username\*\Apps\dragena-win-x64-DAv1.3.0-rc3-sha.f3fec02ebf2c43d3f3d6327cbe3b410edbc167b4\dragena-win-x64-DAv1.3.0-rc3-sha.f3fec02ebf2c43d3f3d6327cbe3b410edbc167b4\dragena

**b.2)** You should get the following response if the connection to the software location can be established:

C:\Users\*username\*\Apps\dragena-win-x64-DAv1.3.0-rc3-sha.f3fec02ebf2c43d3f3d6327cbe3b410edbc167b4\dragena-win-x64-DAv1.3.0-rc3-sha.f3fec02ebf2c43d3f3d6327cbe3b410edbc167b4\dragena>

**b.3)** Enter the command “dragena version”:

C:\Users\username\Apps\dragena-win-x64-DAv1.3.0-rc3-sha.f3fec02ebf2c43d3f3d6327cbe3b410edbc167b4\dragena-win-x64-DAv1.3.0-rc3-sha.f3fec02ebf2c43d3f3d6327cbe3b410edbc167b4\dragena>dragena version

**b.4)** You should get as response the version of the installed Dragen array software:

DRAGEN Array CLI 1.3.0

**Note:**

Dragen array software is not a graphical user interface (GUI), it is a command line interface (CLI), user will need to open Command Prompt (cmd) or PowerShell to use Dragen array local.

To open Command Prompt (cmd) on a Windows computer, press Win icon + R, type cmd into the Run dialogue box, and press Enter.

Alternatively, search for "cmd" or "Command Prompt" in the taskbar's search bar and select the application from the results.
