# Updated Guidance for Using the New Blue Infinium Staining Set

The Infinium Staining Set consists of two components: a staining rack and a wash dish. Both components are included in Infinium Starter Kits. The staining rack is used during the Wash and Coat step of the Infinium workflow with PB1 and XC4 solutions.

## **New Infinium Staining Set (Staining Rack and Wash Dish)**

Due to the discontinuation of the previous components, a new Infinium Staining Set is now included in Infinium Starter Kits. The new set is available under catalog number [WG-10-207](https://www.illumina.com/products/by-type/accessory-products/infinium-staining-set-staining-rack-wash-dish.html) and contains both the updated staining rack and wash dish.

## **Infinium Staining Set Fill Volumes by Batch Size**

* When preparing the wash dish, do not rely on the 250 mL fill line marked on the reservoir, as this volume is insufficient for proper processing.
* A fill volume of 310 mL may overflow when using a staining rack loaded with a high number of BeadChips, due to increased volume displacement caused by the BeadChips.
* Use the recommended fill volumes based on the batch size being processed.

* The reservoir fill line corresponds to approximately 250 mL; however, this volume may be insufficient for complete BeadChip coating. A fill volume of 310 mL is recommended to ensure adequate XC4 coverage.

## **Guidance for Placing the Staining Set**

* To prevent the rack from tipping, position the staining rack on its longer side when placed on the laboratory rack (shown in Figure 4 in front and top views). Do not stand the staining rack upright on its longer side.

* Unlike the legacy staining rack orientation shown in the Infinium assay reference guides, the new blue staining rack should not be positioned upright on its side, as this orientation is unstable and may cause the rack to tip over (Figure 5).

* Exercise caution when lifting or carrying the staining rack by the handle, as the available gripping area is small. Side and front views are shown to illustrate the reduced handle clearance when the rack is loaded with BeadChips (Figure 6).
