Respiratory Virus Enrichment Kit sequencing recommendations and public data resources

What is the recommended read length? A 2x75 bp read length is recommended when sequencing Respiratory Virus Enrichment Kit (RVEK) libraries, prepared with the Respiratory Virus Oligos Panel v2 (RVOP v2). This shorter read length takes into account the potentially shorter average size of libraries created with samples of variable quality.

What is the recommended read depth? 1 million reads per sample are recommended as a starting point, labs can adjust based on data needs.

Are there public datasets available? Yes, the following public datasets are available in BaseSpace Sequence Hub. (Note: BaseSpace login is required to access the following links.)

Please note that this kit was previously named the Respiratory Virus Oligo Panel v2 kit, and has been renamed to the Respiratory Virus Enrichment Kit, which still uses the Respiratory Virus Oligo Panel v2 for enrichment.
