# Troubleshooting failed MiSeq system checks

**Note**: For how to perform a MiSeq system check, see [How to perform a System Check on the MiSeq](/instrumentation/miniseq/instrumentation-miniseq-reference_material-list/000001777.md).

The MiSeq system checks are comprised of four tests: motion, optics, thermal ramp, and fluidics.

The tests listed under the Illumina Use Only column include the Tip/Tilt and Full Optics tests. These tests require a beaded flow cell to complete successfully. Only Illumina Service Engineers carry a beaded flow cell for performing these tests.

For failed tests, power cycle the instrument, perform a maintenance wash with water and repeat the system check with an alternate flow cell. For instruction about how to do power cycle, please reference [How to Power Cycle the MiSeq](https://github.com/illumina-swi/illumina-knowledge/tree/master/articles/Knowledge/Instrumentation-MiSeq-Shut-down-instructions/README.md) or [How To Power Cycle the MiSeq Video](/instrumentation/miseq/instrumentation-miseq-reference_material-list/000005871.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://knowledge.illumina.com/instrumentation/miseq-ruo/instrumentation-miseq-ruo-troubleshooting-list/000007050.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
