# Air filter replacement on the NextSeq 1000/2000

The air filter is a single-use rectangular cartridge that covers the fan on the right side of NextSeq 1000/2000 instruments. It allows for proper cooling and prevents debris from entering the system. The instrument ships with one air filter installed and one spare. Additional air filters are included with an active instrument service contract but are not sent automatically; instead, users may request them by emailing Illumina Technical Support (<techsupport@illumina.com>), or they may be purchased separately from Illumina.

NextSeq 1000/2000 air filter catalog numbers:

* NextSeq 1000/2000 Air Filter Quantity 1: 20115807
* NextSeq 1000/2000 Air Filter Quantity 2: 20115806

Use the following instructions to replace an expired air filter every 6 months.
