How to change a run folder name on the NextSeq 500/550

The following are instructions for changing the NextSeq 500/550 run folder name.

  1. Close the NextSeq 500/550 Control Software (NCS).

  2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Illumina\NextSeqControlSoftware\InstrumentShell.NextSeqControlSoftware.Options.cfg

  3. Create a backup copy of this config file.

  4. Edit the following line to update the instrument name, add experiment name, etc.:

  1. Launch NCS.

Example for adding experiment name is as follows: {YY}{MM}{DD}_{SERIAL}_{RUN}__A{FCSERIAL}_{EXPERIMENT}/RunIDTemplate>

Note: The experiment name is pulled from the sample sheet. As such, this will not work for runs setup in manual mode.
